‘Go forth upon thy journey from this world, beloved soul: in the name of God the Father who created thee; in the name of Jesus Christ his only Son who hath redeemed thee; in the name of the Holy Spirit who gave thee life and giveth thee life still. Accompanied by angels and archangels and by all the company of heaven, may thy portion this day be in peace, and thy dwelling place the heavenly Jerusalem.’
Support and Comfort
We understand that planning a funeral or a memorial can be overwhelming, and we are here to guide you through each step of the process, offering pastoral care and practical assistance.
Whether you are planning a funeral or a memorial service at Chelsea Old Church, we are here to offer support, comfort, and a sacred space for you to honour the departed and commend them to God’s care. Rooted in the timeless traditions of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), our services are solemn and meaningful, providing a sense of peace and hope through the Christian faith.
Funerals and memorials
Chelsea Old Church, with its centuries-old history and beautiful architecture, provides a serene and reflective environment for both funerals and memorials. The church’s tranquil setting by the Thames and its rich history make it a fitting place to celebrate those whom we love but see no longer, whether they were a long-standing member of our parish or had a special connection to Chelsea.
Choir
To further enhance the service, we have a professional choir available to suit your preferences, and our Director of Music, Andrew Macmillan, would be happy to discuss all of the musical options with you. We also have an in-house florist who can create bespoke floral arrangements, adding another personal touch to the service.
Petyt Hall
Additionally, we are pleased to offer Petyt Hall, a beautiful setting just across the courtyard from the church, as a venue for a wake, drinks reception, or memorial gathering after the service. This elegant space provides a fitting and convenient location for family and friends to gather in remembrance.
For more information or to begin planning, please contact our Parish Administrator, Sophie Wilson who can assist you during this time.
